My staff and I have appreciated seeing so many of you in Washington this summer. I hope your visits to our nation’s Capitol building were enjoyable and informative. It has been a busy summer for the staff and me, and I’m now looking forward to some time to reconnect with many of you in the Sixth District during the August district work period.

For many families with children out of school, summer is the time for family vacations, and a lot of 6th District families have been making Washington their vacation destination. The staff and I have enjoyed seeing so many folks from the district stopping by my Congressional office to visit and start their Capitol building tours.

TRUSSVILLE — U.S. Representative Gary Palmer (R – Hoover) spoke at the monthly Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Thursday. Palmer recently returned from Israel, where he and other American leaders met with region leaders to get a better understanding on the Iran nuclear weapons deal.

Additionally, Congressman Gary Palmer recently visited Snider's Discount Pharmacy in Chelsea, Alabama. Prior to his visit, Congressman Palmer had already supported H.R. 592. His visit to Snider's Discount Pharmacy provided an opportunity for those in attendance to thank him for his support for this bill, but also urge him to support H.R. 793 and H.R. 244, the MAC Transparency Act.

Critics of President Obama’s EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) have alleged that the agency may have been politicized by the administration. On Thursday, August 13, US Representative Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) suggested that EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy might not have been entirely forthcoming recently, with a US House of Representatives Committee.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Gary Palmer (R-AL6), joined twelve other members of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee in signing a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy calling claims she made during testimony before the Committee in July about the impact of the EPA’s regulatory agenda “false and misleading.”

The Rockford appearance is one of several by the freshman congressman in Coosa County on Friday.

Congressman Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) addressing the Republican Women of Trussville on Thursday said that the House is going to address the issue when it comes back from its August recess. “Each video gets progressively worse. Obviously Planned Parenthood has violated federal law.” Palmer said that he has called for an independent counsel to investigate, because US Attorney General Loretta Lynch has filed briefs supporting Planned Parenthood in the past (before she was the AG). Rep. Palmer said that efforts to defund Planned Parenthood will continue.

Monday, August 3, US Representative Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) announced in a statement that he was opposed to the rule announced by the Obama Administration that would force power plants to make major cuts to carbon dioxide emissions. Palmer cited testimony by experts who claim that if implemented it will be one of the most costly rules of all time. Meanwhile Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange (R) announced plans to sue to block the new rules which usurp the Alabama Public Service Commission’s powers to regulate the electricity industry in Alabama.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama released the finalized version of the EPA’s power plant rule Monday and many Alabama lawmakers are outraged. The new regulation is over 1500 pages in length and will have a significant economic impact on businesses.

The US Senate could vote as early as today on legislation that would strip Planned Parenthood of over $500 million a year in Federal grants and funding to provide health care services to women. All of that money would go elsewhere to continue to provide those non-abortion related services to women. The nation’s largest abortion provider has been rocked by a series of undercover videos made by a group that staunchly opposes the practice and is alleging that Planned Parenthood is trafficking in fetal body parts for profits, allegations that Planned Parenthood had denied.
