Palmer Appointed for Second Term to Select Committee on the Climate Crisis

Washington, D.C. – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has announced Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-06) as a returning member for the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. Congressman Palmer released the following statement:

"I look forward to continuing to serve on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. It is imperative that the United States continue to utilize our technological advantages and engineering expertise to lead the world in reducing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions while not completely abandoning our vast natural energy resources. I am honored by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy's confidence in me to appoint me to a second term as a member of the Select Committee. I will continue to push for honest science without political spin to address climate issues and for policies that improve our environment while also growing our economy and creating more jobs and greater opportunities for all Americans."

Leader McCarthy said, "Providing climate policy recommendations that properly address the climate crisis and protect American jobs requires leaders that have experience crafting policy that delivers real results. As the co-founder and former president of the Alabama Policy Institute and current Chair of the House Republican Policy Committee, Congressman Gary Palmer is a perfect fit for the job. I'm honored to have selected Representative Palmer to serve on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. I am confident he will continue to help advance the Republicans' fight for cleaner American energy and high-paying jobs for energy sector workers."

In addition to Palmer, 6 other Republican Members were named to the committee: Ranking Member Garret Graves (R-LA), Congressman Buddy Carter (R-GA), Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV), Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), Congressman Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), and Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX).
