Palmer Hails GAO Report, Calls for Elimination of Duplicate Spending
For Immediate Release
Washington D.C. - Congressman Gary Palmer, a member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, commends the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on its new report, and calls for the elimination of on duplicative spending and waste and for the implementation of cost savings and revenue enhancement plans:
"GAO's 2015 report identifies $80 Billion in real savings and proposes substantial financial solutions. One of my highest priorities in Congress is getting our fiscal house in order by reducing government spending, and there is near universal agreement that the kind of overlapping, unnecessary spending identified by GAO should be eliminated. Also, we should utilize our own resources, such as the strategic petroleum reserve and ensure people pay the taxes they owe, to enhance revenue without raising taxes. The GAO's recommendations should be implemented as part of our effort to balance the budget."
