BIRMINGHAM, AL – On Friday, November 7, 2025, Representative Gary Palmer (AL-06) hosted a pinning ceremony for Vietnam Veterans commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

Following the ceremony, Rep. Palmer released the following statement:

“In Romans 13:7 (NKJV), the Bible tells us to ‘Render therefore to all their due… honor to whom honor.’ For Veterans of the Vietnam War, the honor we owe them is long overdue. Those who served in Vietnam answered their country’s call in a difficult and divisive time. When they returned home, they often received little to no recognition for their sacrifice. It was a privilege to recognize these veterans for their dedication and service to our nation. Especially around Veterans Day, it’s never too late to thank our veterans,” said Rep. Palmer. “I would like to express a special thank you to my staff and thank you to Mayor Wash and the City of Pelham for hosting the event and ensuring we gave these veterans the recognition they deserve.”

The event opened with remarks from Pelham Mayor Rick Wash and Rep. Palmer. Following the remarks, Rep. Palmer pinned all veterans in attendance and thanked them for their service.
