WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Gary Palmer (AL-06) was named Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Following this announcement, Rep. Palmer released the following statement:

“The Energy and Commerce Committee has broad jurisdiction with broad oversight responsibilities, and I appreciate the confidence of Chairman Brett Guthrie in trusting me with this opportunity,” said Rep. Palmer. “We have an incredible opportunity to work with President-Elect Trump to remove burdensome and unnecessary regulations so that our natural resources can be harnessed, our healthcare cost can be reduced, and American consumers can thrive. Congressman Troy Balderson as Vice Chair is an excellent choice to help lead the oversight effort.”

“Congratulations to Congressman Palmer on being selected to chair the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Congressman Palmer has shown a commitment to digging into issues and thoroughly examining difficult topics. I look forward to working with Congressman Palmer to ensure appropriate congressional oversight to ensure our government works for the American people,” said Chairman-Elect Guthrie.

"A top priority for Republicans in the 119th Congress is ensuring the federal government returns to serving the needs of the American people. Conducting proper oversight and holding the federal bureaucracy accountable is one of Congress’ most important responsibilities. Congressman Palmer is the Chairman and leader we need to rein in government overreach and get Washington back on track, and I look forward to working alongside him as Vice Chairman to get this done," said Rep. Troy Balderson.
