For Immediate Release Washington, DC – Congressman Gary Palmer, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, questioned government officials at a hearing on the recent data breach of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). On June 4, OPM announced a data breach that affected approximately four million former and current government employees. However, the hearing confirmed that the breach may have been much larger and many more people’s personal information may be at risk.

For Immediate Release Washington, D.C. – Today the Medical Association of the State of Alabama (MASA) officially endorsed H.R. 2652, the Protecting Patients and Physicians Against Coding Act, authored and introduced by Congressman Gary Palmer. The bill is aimed at protecting access to health care with the pending implementation of ICD-10, the new coding system linked to Medicare and Medicaid. Many smaller practices, particularly in rural areas, are not yet ready to fully implement this new system, which threatens patient access and quality of care.
