U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer visited Chilton County on May 5, speaking at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon and touring local schools.
Palmer was introduced at the luncheon by Kevin Corley, pastor at Grace Fellowship church in Clanton who is family friends with Palmer.
Palmer talked about the number of committees he's a part of, and some of the main points of his platform.
"We have to get our fiscal house in order," Palmer said about the country's financial situation.
WASHINGTON — Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) circulated a "critical alert" earlier this week warning his colleagues that a recent bill giving President Obama special authority to negotiate a massive trade deal would ceed too much power to the executive branch and threaten the US economy. Under the agreement, Congress would not be able to amend what President Obama has called "the most progressive trade deal in history."
Each spring, high school students from across the state submit their artwork to the Annual Congressional Art Competition for the opportunity to represent their Congressional District in our nation's Capital with their artistic talents. Sponsored by the Congressional Institute to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district, more than 650,000 high school students have participated since its inaugural year in 1982.
Thursday, April 23 U.S. Representative Gary Palmer (R from Hoover) as a member of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, participated in a hearing entitled "Hydraulic Fracturing: Banning Proven Technologies on Possibilities Instead of Probabilities." Following the hearing Rep. Palmer said that there are no confirmed instances of fracking polluting ground water and not demonstrated link between fracking and earthquakes.
