U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, and four representatives have signed on to legislation to make it easier for pistol permit holders to carry their weapons to other states.

Currently, permits to carry concealed guns are valid only in states that have negotiated reciprocal agreements. That leaves gun owners at potential risk of breaking the law even in some states that issue pistol permits. South Carolina, for instance, has not reciprocal agreement with Alabama.

WASHINGTON — Several of Alabama’s Congressional delegates are cosponsoring a new bill being introduced to Congress, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which would allow the concealed carry permits of any state to be valid in all states around the country.

Rep. Gary Palmer said the agreement announced last week related to limitations of Iran's nuclear program weakens America's position on the international stage and hurts U.S. allies. The White House announced last week it had reached what it described as an "outline" of a program to curb Iran's nuclear programs in return for lifting of economic sanctions. The Obama administration has maintained the agreement would counter the expansion of Iran's nuclear efforts but critics said it cedes too much to a hostile country. Congressional Republicans, as well Israeli leaders, have blasted the plan.

Alabama's U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer said it's time for Obamacare to go the same way as a bad shot in golf. "I don't fault anyone who supported Obamacare, but it's kind of like golf -- every once in a while, you need a mulligan. And I think this administration needs to take a mulligan because it's not working and the cost has gone through the roof," Palmer said.
