MONTGOMERY, Ala. — In a ruling late Monday night, U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen of Texas halted the implementation President Obama's executive orders on immigration. Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, US Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Congressman Gary Palmer (R-AL6) and Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-AL4) welcomed the ruling.

WASHINGTON — Alabama's newest Congressman, Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL6), took his turn to grill President Obama's budget director in a House Budget Committee hearing Wednesday.

After recounting the Aesop's fable of the ant who prepared for the impending winter, and the grasshopper who starved because he didn't, Rep. Palmer told Obama budget director Shaun Donovan, "The fiscal winter is upon us, Mr. Donovan, and if this budget is any indication this administration is playing the role of the grasshopper."

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Gary Palmer issued the following statement after voting to repeal Obamacare:

The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday voted largely along party lines to approve a bill by Rep. Bradley Byrne, R-Fairhope, to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

The final vote was 239-186, with all but three Republicans in favor and all Democrats opposed. It was the 56th time the House has voted to junk the law known as Obamacare since Congress passed it in 2010.

"Obamacare is full of broken promises," Byrne said during the debate on the House floor preceding the vote.

President Obama revealed his record $4 trillion spending plan to Congress on Monday, a budget that is being widely viewed as "dead on arrival."

Several Alabama lawmakers were vocally critical of Obama's budget package, which includes tax increases on wealthier Americans and the elimination of some spending caps to favor domestic and military programs.
