Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Gary Palmer made the following remarks today concerning his vote in favor of the Department of Homeland Security funding bill that blocks President Obama’s unconstitutional executive order concerning immigration.

Denying any part in an organized coup against House Speaker John Boehner, the newest Alabama congressman, Gary Palmer, told Boehner last September he would not vote for him if elected.

U.S. Representative Gary Palmer, R-Hoover, announced late Thursday that he will co-sponsor a bill introduced by U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Haleyville, to block what a news release from Palmer's office calls the Obama administration's "unconstitutional attempt to grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants by executive fiat."

Palmer -- newly sworn in as the representative for the Alabama 6th District -- is referring to executive orders on immigration issued by Obama in November.

Aderholt's bill, H.R. 191, would block the funds needed to implement Obama's order.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Gary Palmer announced today that he will co-sponsor the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36). This bill, which passed the House last Congress, would make abortion illegal after 20 weeks of gestation, the age scientific evidence demonstrates as being the age babies are capable of feeling pain.

--Palmer, along with more than 20 other conservative Republican representatives, cast a politically risky vote against Speaker of the House John Boehner.

--He announced that he would co-sponsor pieces of legislation regarding immigration and abortion.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Gary Palmer announced today that he will co-sponsor a bill to block the Obama Administration’s unconstitutional attempt to grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants by executive fiat. Titled, “To repeal executive immigration overreach, to clarify that the proper constitutional authority for immigration policy belongs to the legislative branch, and for other purposes,” (H.R. 191) this bill will block funds to implement executive amnesty.

That initially wouldn't seem particularly notable, considering he was closing out an exciting first day as a member of the U.S. House, but it stands out because it was his smile — or lack thereof — that made his unlikely rise from think tank president to U.S. Congressman so unexpected.

Rep. Gary Palmer cast his voice vote Tuesday to nominate Jeff Sessions - a senator - to be Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives to honor Sessions, he said in a statement.

Palmer, who was sworn in Tuesday as the new representative for Alabama's 6th district, told voters in his campaign that he wouldn't vote for Rep. John Boehner, who faced some opposition from fellow Republicans in his effort to keep the speakership.
