Updates and Important Information on COVID-19 Situation
Friends,
In light of the evolving situation and the concern surrounding COVID-19, I just wanted to check in and provide information that may be helpful as we address this important issue.
General Updates and Information:
Frequently updated information on the coronavirus, how you can help keep your family and community healthy, and government efforts to combat the virus can all be found on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) website.
My D.C. Office:
We have sadly had to cancel all in-person meetings in my D.C. office through April 30. All "Pastries with Palmer" events are also canceled until further notice. Feel free to call my office if you have questions, and updates will be available on my website.
Government Response:
Last week, Congress passed an emergency funding package that will help expedite vaccine and testing development and increase access to testing, treatment, and telemedicine services. Private companies across the U.S. are also working hard to produce more tests. You can also read about how the CDC is preparing communities to respond well to the outbreak on CDC's website.
Staying Healthy:
The best way to prevent illness and exposure to the coronavirus is to observe normal hygiene methods and avoid social contact with sick people. People over the age of 60, and those who have pre-existing or chronic health issues are at a higher risk of contracting the coronavirus and should take extra precautions.
